動詞は主語の単数・複数によって形を変えます。
例）
The thing is ...
The things are...
その次に来る補語は主語の単数・複数に同意する必要はありません。
例）
Foreign investors are a major force behind Japanese share prices.
According to some, frequent heat waves and mild winters are a sign of global warming.
Greenhouse gas emissions and the polluted air that results from them are a problem.
Intelligence and persistence are the key to success.
これは主語が複数でも、それが一つのユニットとして、補語で言い換えられていると考えられます。
一方、
関係代名詞節をはさんだ文は少し異なります。
例）
I've even inherited his family's 'eyebrow' trait. The one thing that is different though are our eyes.
関係代名詞節(that is different の部分)では動詞 is は one thing に同意していますが、その後の are は our eyes に同意しています。
The only thing that is offensive are the views.....
The only thing that is missing are the boxes.
The only thing that is lacking are images of ........
など

などのケースもＯＫのようです。
is のところは are とするほが理想ですが、
the bedrooms を一つのユニットととらえれば問題ないということのようです。
